Privacy

Last updated: August 2026

GoToGrowthTherapy (“I”, “me”, “my”) is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

This privacy notice explains how I collect, use, store, and protect your personal information, both as a counselling client and as a visitor to my website.

1. How Your Information Is Used

I collect and securely store your personal information (such as your name, contact details, and brief therapy notes) in order to:

  • Deliver safe and effective counselling services
  • Manage appointments and client records
  • Meet professional and legal obligations (e.g., safeguarding)

2. Website and Quiz Data

When you visit my website, use the contact form, or complete one of my online quizzes, I may collect:

  • Your email address — if you choose to enter it to receive your quiz results and free Growth Starter Kit worksheets
  • Your quiz responses — these are processed on your device and are not stored or transmitted unless you submit your email address
  • Your contact form details — when you use the contact form, your name, email address, phone number (optional), and message are collected to respond to your enquiry. These are stored securely within this website and are not shared with any third-party marketing services.
  • Standard technical information — such as browser type and pages visited, collected through cookies (see section 6 below)

Your email address is used solely to send you the resources you have requested and a series of follow-up emails with helpful worksheets and guidance. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email you receive.

3. Data Processors and Third-Party Services

To deliver my services and communicate with you, I use the following third-party providers who act as data processors on my behalf. Each provider has their own privacy policy and I have data processing arrangements in place where required:

  • Formspree — processes quiz form submissions securely
  • Zapier — automates the transfer of quiz form data between services
  • Mailchimp — stores your email address and sends the resources and nurture emails you have signed up to receive
  • WordPress (Elementor Pro) — processes contact form submissions on this website. Your name, email, phone number, and message are stored securely within the website database.
  • My website hosting provider — stores the website, its content, and contact form submissions

I only share your data with these providers for the specific purpose of delivering the resources and communications you have requested. Your data is never sold or shared for marketing by third parties.

4. Confidentiality and Sharing

Your information remains confidential unless:

  • There is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others
  • There is a legal requirement (e.g., court order)
  • Safeguarding concerns require disclosure

Where possible, I will discuss this with you first.

5. Data Storage and Retention

All client records are securely stored using encrypted digital storage. Client information is retained for 7–10 years after counselling ends, in line with professional requirements, after which it is securely destroyed.

Email addresses collected through the online quizzes are stored securely within Mailchimp and are retained only for as long as you wish to receive communications from me. You can request deletion of your email and associated data at any time by contacting me directly.

Contact form submissions (name, email, phone number, and message) are stored securely within the website database on my hosting provider. These are retained for up to 12 months for reference and then securely deleted, unless retained for longer where required for professional or legal reasons.

6. Cookies

This website uses cookies to improve your browsing experience. Essential cookies are necessary for the website to function correctly. Non-essential cookies (such as analytics) are only enabled with your consent, which you can manage using the cookie banner displayed when you first visit the site. You can change your cookie preferences at any time.

7. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information I hold about you
  • Request corrections to inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your records (where legally possible)
  • Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time
  • Object to certain types of processing
  • Raise concerns with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113
